Former Sixers shining at Disney: Dario Saric
The Philadelphia 76ers acquired Dario Saric in a draft-day trade back in 2014, but he failed to make his debut with the franchise until the 2016-17 season due to his contractual obligations with the team he was playing with overseas.
However, once he did come over, he became one of the symbols showing that the Sixers were transitioning out of their rebuild dubbed “The Process”. Saric was primarily a reserve his rookie year but became the full-time starting power forward in his second season in Philly.
The following year he, Robert Covington, Jerryd Bayless, and a future second round pick were traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves for All-Star Jimmy Butler and center Justin Patton. In Minnesota, he struggled to maintain a starting role and was traded to the Phoenix Suns this past offseason.
He’s was starting for the majority of the season, but he’s been coming off the bench for the Suns in Orlando and has made a major impact. This season, he’s been averaging 10.3 points on 34.2 percent shooting from downtown for the Suns. However, in the three games in the Bubble, he’s averaged 14.0 points and has made 50.0 percent of his 3-pointers. Saric has been a big part of the Suns’ early success in the Bubble and hopefully, he’s found a home in Phoenix as a sixth man.
