The Wizards expect to have John Wall, Bradley Beal, and Davis Bertans next season. The expectation is presumably to compete for a playoff spot, which is feasible if Wall is even 60-70 percent of his pre-injury self. Washington has the chance to outscore a lot of teams in 2021.

Aaron Nesmith makes a great deal of sense here. He’s arguably the best 3-point shooter in the draft — a flat-out gunslinger. He will need to provide a clean bill of health to NBA front offices, but Nesmith is already great at moving and relocating off the ball. He gravitates to open space and is comfortable letting it fly from any angle. His mechanics are tight and compact. Eye candy.

Washington needs a player who won’t dominate touches — who doesn’t need the ball to succeed. Nesmith can throw defenses into disarray with gravity alone. He pulls defenders with him, and is the type of high-level shooter who commands constant attention. Put him next to Davis Bertans and two high-level creators, and the Wizards become really difficult to guard. They can figure out the defense later.
