The Heat are built on character and culture. By all indications, Kira Lewis is a tremendous person and teammate. He’s also one of the most criminally underrated prospects on the board, and someone who can give Miami and immediate facelift at point guard.
Goran Dragic continues to age and Kendrick Nunn, albeit a Rookie of the Year finalist, is severely overrated and potentially unreliable. Lewis is one of the most well-rounded guards in this draft — a creative passer, an exhilarating athlete, and a capable three-level scorer.
Lewis is the fastest end-to-end player on the board. He can get out a run for a Heat team designed to thrive in transition. Miami has tons of shooters on the roster, as well as multiple quality playmakers to take pressure off Lewis’ shoulders. Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro — all solid creators. It’s a fluid and well-oiled machine. Lewis doesn’t have a ton of crippling weaknesses. He can straight-up play. This is a steal for Miami.
