The Jazz two bucket-getters on the perimeter in Donovan Mitchell and Jordan Clarkson, but you can never have too much bucket-getting (this is debatable). Jahmi’us Ramsey isn’t the cleanest fit, but he’s arguably the most talented guard left on the board. After a surprising freshman campaign at Texas Tech, he looks every bit the part of a first-round pick.
Utah cannot invest long-term in Mike Conley or Jordan Clarkson. Ramsey is a gifted scorer who is already comfortable creating his offense. He has pull-up range out to the NBA 3-point line, and his ability to hit difficult shots — if relied on too heavily at times — bodes well for the future. If he can channel his shot selection and embrace more of a facilitation role, it’s not hard to envision him and Donovan Mitchell forming a productive backcourt tandem.
Ramsey doesn’t have the best defensive reputation, but he’s a bulky 6-foot-4 with good length and the ability to get better. He wasn’t on most draft radars before the season, so it’s clear he can improve drastically in a short time frame. He’s on the upswing.
