This is an OKC special. Robert Woodard is an explosive athlete on the wing who will need time to round into form at the next level. In recent years, the Thunder have dipped into the pool of athletic wing specimens to varying degrees of success. Luguentz Dort is a prime example of what OKC hopes to get out of a draft (even if he, himself, was undrafted). Woodard feels like a Thunder pick.

At 6-foot-7, Woodard is one of the most impressive vertical athletes on the board. He can defend multiple positions, his 3-point shot came a long way as a sophomore, and there’s considerable optimism about his upward trajectory. Woodard has a bankable work ethic.

On the other hand, he doesn’t create his own offense, and his 3-point success came on notably low volume. Woodard will need to prove he can contribute as a shooter before he can tap into his upside as a cutter. Even so, the defensive profile is appealing enough late in the first round.
