Ricky Rubio has provided a necessary lift for the Suns at point guard, but he’s not the long-term answer next to Devin Booker. Killian Hayes is perhaps the most underrated prospect in this class, and someone who should have no trouble acquiescing to the speed and athleticism of NBA basketball.

At 6-foot-5, Hayes was tremendous physical tools for a point guard. He’s one of the best playmakers in the draft — one who is at his best picking apart halfcourt defenses. While LaMelo is a transition maestro, Hayes is the vein of more traditional star guards. A crafty, high-I.Q. playmaker who poses a dynamic threat out of the pick-and-roll.

In addition to his passing chops, Hayes is a gifted isolation scorer who already has a silky left-handed step-back in his arsenal. He would do well to improve off the ball, especially next to Booker, but Phoenix is wise to add their point guard of the future here.
