With Buddy Hield’s future in question (despite a contract extension, because Kangz), Sacramento tackles a potential shortage of wing depth. They also replace Hield’s flame-throwing presence with another bonafide sharpshooter who, to some, is the top 3-point threat in this year’s draft.

Aaron Nesmith missed almost his entire season to a leg injury. He will need to provide NBA teams with a clean bill of health. He will also need to prove he’s more than a 3-point shooter. Even so, he’s a marksman of the highest order, and in the modern NBA, there are few immediately translatable skills more valuable than shooting.

Whether it’s on the move or standing still, Nesmith can bury shots from well past NBA range. He doesn’t have Hield’s same propensity for isolation scoring, but that may benefit the Kings to some degree. He’s a cheap high-level shooter who pairs easily next to De’Aaron Fox and Marvin Bagley. If Hield stays, that’s one heck of a floor-stretching tandem.
