The Nets have a non-zero chance to go all the way next season. Brooklyn is on the precipice of a seismic shift in priorities, but the 2020 NBA Draft still has the potential to offer immediate value. Wing depth is never a negative, especially with Joe Harris entering free agency.
Josh Green does not replace Harris’ knockdown shooting, but he does insert another athletic body into Brooklyn’s long and rangy group. He’s one of the best athletes in this draft, and with solid instincts and a projectable 3-point stroke, the appeal of Green as a 3-and-D wing is readily apparent on film.
Brooklyn will need Green to evolve, most notably as a ball handler, is he’s to become anything more than a role player. But with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving on the roster, the Nets would probably settle for an aggressive, versatile wing defender who can deftly fill a complementary role on offense.
