The Heat will probably want to invest in someone a little more reliable than Kendrick Nunn at point guard. With Goran Dragic firmly in the twilight of his career, Kira Lewis makes a great deal of sense here. He may also, frankly, be the best player available.
A lot of folks have overlooked Lewis up to this point. His production was strong across the board at Alabama. He was an efficient playmaker, an effective three-level scorer, and a stout point-of-attack defender. He’s also the quickest end-to-end player in the draft, and the type of grade-A athlete the Heat tend to invest in.
To top things off, all indications are that Lewis is a good person and a good teammate — the type of personality and work ethic you want in a locker room. He’s tailor-made for the Heat and their enigmatic and consistently strong “culture.” He can waltz into significant playing time as a rookie, even if both Nunn and Dragic are on the roster.
