The Philadelphia 76ers could make a trade with each team in the Pacific Division.
It’s the Philadelphia 76ers offseason and general manager (GM) Elton Brand has to make this team better. One of the obvious ways to do so is by making trades. Brand should look at each team and decide what is the best trade he could make with each one of them.
Breaking the teams down by divisions is the easiest way to look at the possibilities. Starting out on the West Coast and making our way East is pretty logical, so the first division that will be analyzed for potential trades will be the Pacific Division.
One potential trade from every Pacific Division team: Golden State Warriors
I’ve already written a hypothetical trade involving the Sixers and the Warriors in the past. I focused `on a trade involving Al Horford and it will be working under the same premise. Out of all the players that the 76ers have outside of Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, Horford fills the Warriors’ biggest need at center.
It’s true that the Warriors could draft big man James Wiseman to fill that need, but it’s better for the Warriors to have a veteran at the center position and that would allow them to draft LaMelo Ball or Anthony Edwards who have the potential to be franchise players who fit the modern NBA much better than Wiseman.
The hypothetical trade itself is pretty similar to the one I’ve already written about, there is only one alteration that the from the trade I’ve proposed in the past centered around Horford and Andrew Wiggins.
The only difference is that instead of just a second round pick, the Sixers send the 21st pick they have from the Thunder and the 49th pick of this year’s draft. Wiggins might be inconsistent in putting in the effort, but if in Philly would arguably be the best shot creator Philly would have.
Attaching a first and second round pick may seem like a lot for Wiggins, but Horford’s contract is so bad that adding the first may be necessary for the Warriors to pull a trigger on a deal.
