The beast must be fed

There are a plethora of places with radio, TV, newspapers and the Internet who cover the NBA. With the inability to go in-person to see games and pick up info, the need for stuff to write about is exacerbated.

With teams now seeing their seasons end, there is also a supply and demand element. Fans want to be provided interesting content but it is a time when their team might not be doing much.

How about thinking of possible trades for the 76ers in-their-prime stars? Yeah, that will work. It is fun and something people can get into. Even casual basketball fans know Simmons and Embiid, so it is interesting to a large number of fans.

The sweep at the hands of the Celtics, the firing of coach Brett Brown and, once again, the proven incompetence of the front office, at least makes the possibility of one of them getting moved.

Now, Sixers general manager Elton Brand has said he is not interested in trading Simmons or Embiid but looking to augment their talents with a better surrounding cast (also known as common sense).

Additionally, Embiid and Simmons have never stated a desire to leave the Sixers and have always stated they believe they can play together.

But will that stop the speculation, the debate, the fake trade proposals and constant talk show takes on trading Simmons or Embiid  — even though no other NBA star similar to them gets this treatment.

Nope. Sometimes, where there is smoke, there is no fire.
