The Philadelphia 76ers have had some bad trade histories with other franchises throughout this series of articles. However, the New York Knicks may have the worst trade history with the Sixers thus far in this series.
The division rivials have made five trades with eachother. The first one happened in 1998 and the most recent was in 2015. Considering that both teams are historic franchises it’s surprising they haven’t made more trades with eachother.
Trying to figure out the best trade was difficult. The trade that sent Arnett Moultrie to New York almost won out, but it ended up being the trade the most recent one.

Grading the value of this trade is difficult because the value of those picks can’t be determined until the draft occures. Still compared to all the other trades between the two clubs this one appears to be the best.
The 2020 second round pick is going to be the 36th pick in the draft which is a pretty good value pick. The 2021 second round pick should be nearly as good because the Knicks are in the middle of a rebuild right now and no clear cut franchise players to build around moving forward.
Willy Hernangomez was the player selected with the 35th pick back in the 2015 NBA Draft and has been a solid backup center to this point in his career (majority of which has been with the Charlotte Hornets). However, considering the other trades between the two clubs, trading the second round pick for two future second round picks still has the most upside to benefiting the Sixers.
The Philadelphia 76ers and the New York Knicks have a terrible trade history. Considering that this trade has uncertian value for the Sixers moving forward and it was still the best trade trade valuable is pretty telling.
