One potential trade with each Southwest team: San Antonio Spurs
All indications point to the San Antonio Spurs are about to enter a rebuild. The core of DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge can’t land them a playoff spot anymore. The team needs to rebuild and the best way for them to do that is by trading their veterans for young players and draft picks.
A couple of years ago the Philadelphia 76ers had a lot of young players and draft picks, but sadly it’s not the case anymore. However, they still have enough to make an interesting deal for the Spurs to consider.

It was tempting to make a deal for swapping Harris for DeRozan, but DeRozan would only worsen the Sixers 3-point shooting issues. Instead, the Sixers get two veterans that would help fill needs that the team has.
Patty Mills has been a threat from downtown for his entire career. Last season he averaged 11.6 points on 38.2 percent shooting from the 3-point line. He can play off the ball which should be a perfect complement to Simmons.
Rudy Gay isn’t a great 3-point shooter, but he can create his own shot and could be a valuable sixth man for Philly if this deal were to go down. Last season he averaged 10.8 points per game at 33-years-old. There could be a potential of his production dropping off next year based on his age, but getting off of Harris’ contract is worth it.
Both players are in the last year of the deals which would help Philly immensely in having longterm flexibility.
Harris fills the whole at power forward that the Spurs have and it would further push Aldridge to the center position which probably should have happened two years ago. He is also younger than the two players he’s being traded for which is surely a positive for San Antonio. Getting two second round picks should help them in their rebuild.
That finishes up the potential trades the Philadelphia 76ers could make with the Southwest Division. Like or dislike? Comment your thoughts below.
