Philadelphia 76ers should trade for Lou Williams
The Philadelphia 76ers could trade for a former Sixth Man of the Year.
Doc Rivers has been brought in to coach the Philadelphia 76ers and while he’s excited about the team, general manager Elton Brand could help out his new coach a little bit. The team needs to improve in several areas and one of those areas is bench scoring.
Until Philly traded for Alec Burks this past season, the franchise went the better part of a decade without a legit bench scorer. In fact, Lou Williams was the last legit sixth man the team had and that was before the club underwent the rebuild named “The Process”.
Since leaving the Sixers, Williams has had a very accomplished career, including becoming one of the most accomplished sixth men of all-times. With that in mind, Philly should entertain bringing back Williams to the franchise.
Williams makes sense for the 76ers.

Williams has won three Sixth Man of the Year awards during his career, one with the Toronto Raptors and two with the Los Angeles Clippers. He won the two consecutive with the Clippers with Rivers as his head coach.
Besides his history with the Sixers and Rivers, Williams makes sense for Philly as he fills as need that the franchise has. Despite being 33-years-old and 6-foot-1, Williams is pretty good at creating his own shot. He has a career average of 14.5 points and 3.5 assists while converting 34.9 percent from deep.
There’s no denying his age is a downside and his ability to defend, but the last three seasons have been the best of his career. He has one year left on his contract and the Sixers have the proper pieces to send the Clippers to make a deal happen.
Williams fits a need that the Philadelphia 76ers and he’s flourished under Rivers, so he would be an ideal trade target for the franchise this offseason.
