Another special guest joins the podcast this week. Derek Bodner from The Athletic offers insight on the new front office moves, free agency options, and trade possibilities that will shape the Sixers’ upcoming season.

On this week’s episode of The Sixer Sense Podcast, Derek Bodner brings his perspective on all things Sixers.

Because of the recent activity in the Philadelphia 76ers’ front office, the conversation starts there. Lucas, Chris, and Derek give their thoughts on the addition of Peter Dinwiddie and Prosper Karangwa in their new roles with the organization. They also discuss the loss of two key management pieces from the Sixers’ strategy and scouting departments.

From there, they cover different angles in relation to free agency and potential trades that could enhance the roster. They briefly go into potential picks for the NBA draft coming up in November, with a focus on the types of prospects the Sixers should consider.

The pod then provides insight into how Doc Rivers will impact the players on the team based on his wealth of experience as a player and coach.

Then the conversation steers towards a recent quote from former Sixer and NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley. As he is usually critical of the 76ers’ two stars, Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, the podcast dives into whether or not Sir Charles has a point about the maturity of Simmons and Embiid.

The podcast is rounded out with the social media question of the week. Lucas, Chris, and Derek talk about which young player is most likely to have a breakout year under a new coach. Will it be Matisse Thybulle or Shake Milton? Listen to find out!

We thank Derek Bodner for being part of this week’s podcast and hope he decides to join us in the future. You can follow Derek on Twitter @DerekBodnerNBA and subscribe to read his work at the Athletic Philadelphia.
