The Magic need to balance the roster. A lot of strong frontcourt talent populates Orlando’s 15-man group, but aside from Markelle Fultz and Evan Fournier, there’s not a ton of perimeter firepower to speak of. Especially with D.J. Augustin hitting free agency.
Enter Aaron Nesmith, possibly the best shooter in this year’s draft. As someone who could comfortably start at the three, or provide a kick off the bench, Nesmith would do a lot of good for Steve Clifford’s offense. Orlando’s core pieces — namely Fultz and Jonathan Isaac — need spacers.
Change is brewing in Orlando, and roster overhaul seems inevitable. The current group is treading water in the middle of the Eastern Conference, and at some point, they have to start kicking their feet. Nesmith isn’t going to revolutionize the game, but he’s a boon to Orlando’s greatest area of need.
