21. Killian Tillie, big, Gonzaga
The elephant in the room for Killian Tillie is his injury history. If not for serious durability concerns, he would probably get lottery consideration. Now, he might not crack the top 50. Precaution on the part of NBA teams is understandable, but at the end of the day, Tillie is too good to barely get drafted. He’s a home-run swing with real potential to slap one over the fence.
Tillie is a knockdown shooter at 6-foot-10 with advanced feel and a smorgasbord of complementary skills. He’s a dynamic pick-and-roll or pick-and-pop big, with real passing chops and a willingness to move the ball. He doesn’t stick in one spot, he doesn’t get sucked into poor shot selection, and he makes live easier for everyone involved.
With a high basketball I.Q., excellent feel, and the mobility of a modern NBA big, Tillie seems destined for success. In fact, a healthy Tillie might crack the top 10 on this board. There’s a real chance he’s never healthy, and for that reason he drops just outside the top-20. But the potential is tantalizing, and yes, Philadelphia should jump at the chance to take him in the mid-30s.
