It will be difficult for the Philadelphia 76ers to make a trade with any team within the Atlantic Division heading into this season.
Before the 2020-21 season begins, it’s important to finish out the series of articles covering trades with each division. The only one left is the Philadelphia 76ers‘ own division, the Atlantic. It’s a little bit trickier now that the draft and free agency has passed, but there are still trades that Philly can make with each team within their own division.

One potential trade with each Atlantic Division team: Boston Celtics
The Sixers should be wary of trading with the Boston Celtics lead by front office executive Danny Ainge. Ainge has gotten the best of the Sixers on two separate occasions. The first being with the Markelle Fultz and Jayson Tatum trade followed up by the Matisse Thybulle deal.
That being said, the Celtics are thin at the stretch four positions entering the season and could use extra depth there. The trade below helps them do that and gives Philly a boost at a position of need as well.
Considering Carsen Edwards barely played for the Celtics last season and that they drafted Payton Pritchard in the first round of this year’s draft, it seems like he’s on the outside looking in. That’s considering Kemba Walker’s health issue too. Getting a stretch four like Mike Scott and an unprotected 2024 second round pick for Edwards should be a good deal for Boston.
Edwards had a pre-draft interview with the Sixers last season and received high praise from former front office executive Marc Eversley. If the Sixers didn’t have to trade up to get Thybulle, they could have selected Edward with the 33rd pick, the one they sent to Boston, and then the Celtics used to select him.
Edwards didn’t have a good rookie season, but he has potential as a scoring point guard off the bench which could be well next to a dynamic playmaker like Ben Simmons. This is a hypothetical trade both teams need to consider.
