The Philadelphia fill out their training camp roster by adding point guard Justin Robinson.

It appears that the Philadelphia 76ers have finally filled out their training camp roster. The Sixers’ official website announced the signing of point guard Justin Robinson. This signing brings the training camp 20 players.

Before discussing what Robinson brings to the table it’s important to point out this deal puts the 76ers in a bind. According to Derek Bonder of The Athletic, in order for Philly to complete the Al Horford for Danny Green and Terrance Ferguson, the Sixers will need to waive a player.

Per Bonder, Robinson joins Derrick Walton Jr. and Lamine Diane who’s contracts also have Exhibit 10 clause in it. If there is a G-League season, then these three players will have extra finical incentive to join the Sixers affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats.

With very few exceptions, the theme of the 76ers offseason has been 3-point shooting and the signing of Robinson continues that trend. Robinson played with the Washington Wizards last season for nine games and averaged 1.6 points on 60.0 percent.

His short NBA stint with the Wizards doesn’t paint a clear picture of what he could potentially bring to the table. Between the Capital City Go-Go and the Blue Coats, Robinson’s G-League experience shows what he can do when given minutes.

Between the two clubs last season, he averaged 14.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 5.5 assists,1.4 steals, and 3.4 turnovers. He also shot 34.4 percent from downtown that season but converted 39.4 percent of his 3-pointers with the Go-Go.

Considering he played the second half of the G-League season with Delaware, it doesn’t seem likely he makes Philly’s final spot. Early indications appear that it’s Justin Anderson’s spot to lose, but at the age of 23, Robinson could be a project that the Blue Coats continue to develop.

The Philadelphia 76ers signing Robinson appears to be a move geared to benefit Delaware more than the NBA franchise but should help with making sure the team has enough players in training camp.
