The Philadelphia 76ers actually have very good floor spacing at the shooting guard position.
Last season, there just wasn’t enough shooting at the shooting guard position the Philadelphia 76ers who were trying to play “Tall-Ball”. That was corrected this offseason and the team is fully loaded with shooters. Like with the point guard position, below is a potential depth chart entering this season.
Starter: Seth Curry
During the NBA Draft, the Sixers essentially swapped out a D-and-3 player in Josh Richardson for sharpshooter Seth Curry. Curry is a high volume and high percentage 3-point shooter that should help space the floor for Philly’s two stars in Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. Last season Curry averaged 12.4 points on 45.2 percent shooting from downtown.
Backup: Furkan Korkmaz
It’s hard to believe that despite entering his fourth season with the franchise, Furkan Korkmaz one of the longest-tenured players on the club. Korkmaz had a breakout season last year, averaging 9.8 points on 40.2 percent shooting from deep. Head coach Doc Rivers recently hinted that he and Shake Milton were going to be reserve backcourt heading into this season, per Kyle Neubeck of PhillyVoice.
Third String: Shake Milton

Despite Milton probably going to be the primary backup at the point guard position, there’s no doubt he will get run at the shooting guard position when he and Simmons share the floor this year. When he broke out last year, Milton averaged 9.4 points on 43.0 percent shooting from behind the arc.
Reserve: Isaiah Joe
Rookie Isaiah Joe was a sharpshooter in college as he attempted 9.1 3-points a game and converted 37.8 percent during two seasons. He also averaged 16.9 points his sophomore year at Arkansas. However, he will have to earn his minutes behind some impressive young talent ahead of him. Depending on the lineups, he could either be a shooting guard or a small forward in certain situations.
Others: Dakota Mathias
The Sixers have another rooking shooter in Dakota Mathias on a two-way deal. He’s likely to spend more of his season with the Sixers’ G-League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats. However, in the event he does get NBA minutes, don’t be surprised if he plays shooting guard. In his last season at college, he shot 46.6 percent on 3-point attempts and averaged 12.0 points per game.
There’s no doubt that the Philadelphia 76ers are loaded with 3-point shooters at the shooting guard position entering this season.
