This Sixers podcast dives into the Sixers’ first three games, Doc Rivers’ rotations, and Joel Embiid’s MVP chances.
For the first time since the NBA Disney Bubble ended, there’s relevant basketball being played by the Philadelphia 76ers. Fans should be thrilled that the new season is underway, and The Sixer Sense Podcast is excited to be back to discuss every aspect of the Sixers.
Lucas Johnson and Christopher Kline jump right into the analysis of the first three games the Sixers played. They begin with the rough win against the Wizards. Facing a tough duo of Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal, Philadelphia took every punch from Scott Brooks’ squad and countered with a full dose of a healthy Joel Embiid. The pod breaks down the good and bad of this game, including a terrible game from Tobias Harris and a promising performance from Shake Milton.
After that game is broken down, the Knicks game is analyzed. From Ben Simmons‘ outstanding defense against R.J. Barrett, to Tyrese Maxey’s youthful contributions, Lucas and Chris provide insight into how the Sixers fared against the woeful New York team. From there, they discuss the terrible Sixers performance against the Cavaliers.
With Joel Embiid out with “back soreness”, the 76ers struggled mightily. The podcast discusses how the Cavs may not be as bad as last season’s debacle, and they also debate about why Ben Simmons could have done more, but did not, in the absence of Philly’s All-Star center.
Then the hosts go over the substitution patterns of Doc Rivers in this early part of the season. Who is getting the most minutes off then bench? Who is not seeing the same action as last season? Are there some similar rotation issues following Doc Rivers from his previous stint with the Clippers that Philadelphia fans need to be concerned about? Listen to find out.
In addition, the podcast has a conversation about a quote given by the 76ers All-Star big man. The pod discusses Joel Embiid’s ranking amongst other NBA centers and the likeliness that he can become the NBA league MVP after such a promising start. Another quote was given by Doc Rivers about Ben Simmons and his shoot-arounds with Dwight Howard. How should fans feel about this unique situation? Is it benign or can something truly significant come from this bonding experience between Howard and Simmons?
