Tobias Harris’ efficiency wins him the Philadelphia 76ers’ player of the week award.

It was a tough choice between Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and Tobias Harris for this edition of the Philadelphia 76ers‘ player of the week award. However, Harris’ efficiency, Simmons’ weak finish to the week, and Embiid’s lack of consistent offensive dominance has allowed the power forward to come away with this prize this week.

Sixers’ Player of the Week: Harris

In the first matchup against the Charlotte Hornets, Harris was the game’s second leading scorer and lead Philly to a win. He finished with 24 points, nine rebounds, six assists, four steals, three blocks, five turnovers, and two turnovers. He went on to convert 9-14 from the field, 4-7 from the 3-point line, and both of his free throw attempts. Outside of the five turnovers, this is probably one of the best overall games Harris has had as a member of the Sixers.

Harris dominated the Hornets in the 76ers’ second victory against Charlotte this past week. He had 22 points, five rebounds, two assists, one turnover, and one foul, while making 10-16 from the floor and 2-5 from downtown. He led all scorers in this contest.

Embiid’s 38 points and clutch play stole the show against the Washington Wizards, but Harris still played a strong role in the victory. The power forward finished with 19 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two turnovers, and two fouls, while shooting 50.0 percent of his 16 shots, 3-7 from behind the arc, and failed to make his two free throws. It should also be noted Seth Curry had 28 points on 6-7 shooting from deep.

The disappointing loss against the Brooklyn Nets was easily Harris’ worst performance of the week. He had 17 points, eight rebounds, four assists, one steal, four turnovers, and five fouls. He went 7-16 on shot attempts, 1-4 on 3-pointers, and 2-2 on foul shots. Outside of Shake Milton and Tyrese Maxey, none of Philly’s had super strong performances.

Honorable Mention

It was tempting to have Embiid and/or Simmons here, but scoring under their respective standards and turnovers issues will allow Curry to claim this award. The combo guard had an impressive week before getting injured, per Noah Levick of NBCSPhilly, and then testing positive for COVID-19. In three games, Curry averaged 20.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 0.3 steals, 0.7 blocks, 1.7 turnovers, and 1.0 foul.

Harris’ efficiency made him the best choice for getting the Philadelphia 76ers’ player of the week award. On the week, he averaged 20.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.3 steals, 0.8 blocks, 3.0 turnovers, and 2.5 fouls.
