Isaiah Joe has been very impressive for the Philadelphia 76ers this past week.
With so many things going on this past week, it’s easy to overlook the performances of the Philadelphia 76ers‘ rookies. There’s one second round pick in particular who’s performance makes it hard to keep him on the bench moving forward.
21st pick, 2020 draft
To be honest, if I hadn’t already given Tyrese Maxey the player of the week award, he would have been the main focus of this article. That being said, he did start each game this past week and scored in double digits in each game. Until Seth Curry returns to the lineup, there’s no reason why Maxey won’t be the fifth starter on the roster.

Isaiah Joe is the rookie referred to in the introductory paragraph of this article. He put on a shooting clinic this past week. In the four games he played in, he averaged 12.3 points on 50.0 percent shooting from the 3-point line. He also averaged seven 3-point attempts per game during that span. He can straight up shoot and honestly, he should be in the regular rotation moving forward.
Season averages: 7.1 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.4 steals, 0.4 blocks, 0.4 turnovers, and 1.9 fouls. Shooting 37.5 percent on field goals, 38.6 percent on 3-pointers, and 100.0 on free throws.
58th pick, 2020 draft
Rookie big man Paul Reed appeared in only two games this past week, which was the least among all the Sixers rookie. Outside of recording three blocks against the Atlanta Hawks, there wasn’t much Reed did to really impress this past week.
Season averages: 4.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 0.8 assist, 0.3 steals, 1.0 blocks, 1.3 turnovers, and 1.0 fouls. Shooting 42.1 percent on field goals and 0.0 percent on 3-pointers.
Undrafted, 2020 draft
After a hot start, Dakota Mathias cooled down from the arc. In the three games he played in, Mathias shot a combined 3-11 from downtown. Considering that he is a rookie and the inconsistent minutes he received this past week, it’s not surprising he struggled to convert from deep.
Season averages: 6.0 points, 0.9 rebounds, 1.6 assist, 0.1 steals, 0.4 blocks, 0.1 turnovers, and 0.9 fouls. Shooting 39.6 percent on field goals, 30.8 percent on 3-pointers, and 33.3 percent on free throws.
Joe’s floor spacing skills were the reason why the Philadelphia 76ers selected him this past draft and he proved it this past week.
