On this episode, the pod discusses numerous reasons why the Sixers have the best record in the Eastern Conference.
Lucas Johnson and Christopher Kline bring up some hot topics surrounding the current success of the Philadelphia 76ers. There’s plenty of recap to go around, along with discussion about individual Sixers who have had some outstanding performances recently.
We start with the recap of the Sixers games versus Detroit, L.A., Minnesota, and Indiana. With the only loss listed against the Pistons, Lucas mentions some positives that came about, despite Embiid’s absence. Then, they break down the thrilling game against the Lakers. With the bright lights cast on this matchup, the star performances did not disappoint.
After that, the discussion ventures into the Minnesota game, where the temperature outside seemed to have affected the Sixers first-half shooting inside the Target Center. The second half was a different story, where the Sixers came to life and put the young, depleted Timberwolves in their place.
Lastly, Lucas and Chris discuss the recent come-back victory in Indiana, where the Sixers had to fight tooth and nail in the final quarter. Who stood out in that game, and what was with the unexpected 2-3 zone defense that Doc Rivers implemented? Has he stumbled upon something worth using again in the future?
Once the recaps are through, the pod offers two different opinions about how many All-Star players should represent the Sixers. Is it one, two, or three? And is Tobias Harris having a strong enough year to beat out some other marquee names from the Eastern Conference? Lucas brings up a great stat about Harris that nobody would expect because it puts him in a category with some truly great NBA legends.
Rumors take over the pod at this point, where some former 76ers are reported to be on the trade market. Could they return home where they provided quality 3-point shooting and spacing in their first go around with Philly?
Lastly, the topic of Matisse Thybulle‘s recent defensive dominance is raised. Chris has an epiphany about the second-year guard and laments every speaking negatively about Thybulle. Could Thybulle maintain quality minutes in the rotation, and will he be able to keep being a menace defensively while bringing more offense to the table. This topic is dissected thoroughly.
