3 power forward free agent options: Michael Beasley

I’ve always been a fan of former second overall pick Michael Beasley. The 2009 lottery pick has had an up and down career, but has always been able to score buckets. He’s not an ideal stretch-four but he’s certainly able to get his own back and hit 3-pointers at a reasonable rate.

Beasley’s averaged 12.4 points and 4.6 rebounds, while converting 34.9 percent of his shots from downtown. His last stint with the Los Angeles Lakers didn’t end well during the 2018-19 season, but he’s trying to get back into the NBA.

“Beasley could be a valuable player off the bench for Philly…”

He recently went undrafted in the G-League draft, according to Ira Winderman of The South Florida Sun Sentinal, but that doesn’t mean that the Philadelphia 76ers shouldn’t give him a look. He’s been signed by the Sixers’ president of basketball operations Daryl Morey once before when Morey was in charge of the Houston Rockets. Beasley played well with the Rockets so it might be an interesting union for Morey.

Having a strong head coach like Doc Rivers would also certainly help the combo forward. Rivers is been know to get the best out of his players and there shouldn’t be any doubt he could do that for the 32-year-old veteran.

Beasley could be a valuable player off the bench for Philly if he buys into what Rivers is trying to do with the club. However, it’s silly to assume that there isn’t any risk, but it’s up to Morey to decide if Beasley is worth it or not a second time around.
