Sixers podcast: Embiid defends Simmons | Undefeated starting 5

The Sixers hold first place in the Eastern Conference. The podcast this week analyzes their recent performances and previews some important upcoming games.

Lucas Johnson and Christopher Kline open right up with the three games played last week, where the Sixers went 2-1. The first game discussed is the win versus James Harden and the Brooklyn Nets. Then, they work backwards, elaborating on an ugly loss to a short-handed Portland team and a standard victory against a young Charlotte squad.

After the games are broken down, a conversation starts about a social media response by Joel Embiid. Last week, the Sixers’ center tweeted support for Ben Simmons to receive All-Star votes. When a random Twitter follower threw shade at Simmons, Embiid clapped back. Lucas and Chris discuss whether this public defense of Simmons signals a growth in their relationship.

Next, the pod covers the latest All-Star voting results and how three Sixers could end up earning the honor to represent Philadelphia in the All-Star game in March. Although Embiid is pretty much a lock to make it because of his MVP level play, Tobias Harris and Ben Simmons only have a few weeks to prove themselves worthy of making the team as reserves.
