Sixers podcast: 76ers theme song | Road trip struggles | Bjelica rumors

Karen Morey is our special guest on this week’s episode. She discusses her new documentary about our beloved Philadelphia 76ers theme song, “Here Come the Sixers.”

There are plenty of topics to jump into regarding the Philadelphia 76ers, including analysis of the two losses on the current Western Conference road trip. However, Lucas Johnson and Christopher Kline initially welcome Karen Morey — film producer and director — to the show and ask her questions about her recently released documentary on Youtube, Here Come the Sixers: How an Old Song Taught a New Generation to Trust the Process.

They inquire about the inspiration for her project, how she planned it, and the response she has received from Sixer fans and others in her film community. Karen also explains how she started Fanfair Media — a company she co-founded to produce film projects that focus on sports topics.

Before she ends the interview, she elaborates on her journey as an NBA fan, going from Houston to Philadelphia. She has some fun in the process, mentioning her favorite Sixers player, her choice for most fashionable Sixer, and what makes her cringe when she watches games with her dad.

The podcast then turns to the tough road losses against the Portland Trail Blazers and Phoenix Suns. The analysis explores reasons why team progress has been impeded since their last win against the Sacramento Kings. Without the play of a very critical bench player, the reserve rotation has struggled. They look into what Doc Rivers must do to adjust before a showdown against the Utah Jazz, who happen to have the best record in the NBA.

From there, the podcast discusses some players who have been made available on the NBA trade market. How would these players fit on the 76ers? One is a legit 3-point threat, and the other is a young blossoming star with tremendous athleticism. Will Daryl Morey make a move for either player? The subsequent weeks will surely tell.
