Sixers’ Player of the Week: Joel Embiid continues to dominate
This past week not only proved that the Philadelphia 76ers are a legit contender, but also that Joel Embiid is the most dominant player in the NBA. There’s no one even close to Embiid on the Sixers in terms of having a more impressive week, so with ease, he’s earned this player of the week award.
Player of the Week: Joel Embiid
The 76ers may have lost their matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers, but it wasn’t due to a lack of effort from Embiid. The All-Star big man finished with 42 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, one steal, two blocks, three turnovers, and four fouls. He went an insane 13-22 from the field, 2-3 from the 3-point line, and 14-16 from the free throw line. Embiid easily lead all players in points and rebounds for this matchup.
Philly won against the Indiana Pacers despite a quiet game from Embiid by his standards. He finished with 24 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, one block, two turnovers, and one foul, while converting 10-17 shots, 50.0 percent of his two 3-pointers, and 3-3 from the charity stripe.
Embiid was the reason why the Sixers were able to force overtime and pull out a win against the Utah Jazz. He hit the game-tying shot to send the contest into an extra session and did everything possible to make the 76ers win that game. He ended with 40 points, 19 rebounds, three assists, one steal, two blocks, two turnovers, and three fouls. He shot 14-27 from the floor, 2-5 from downtown, and 10-13 from the foul line.
Honorable Mention
Thanks to a 26-point outing against the Indiana Pacers, Shake Milton gets this week’s honorable mention. While Philly needs more consistency out of the combo guard, he did enough in that game to get this honor. In the past three games, he’s averaged 16.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 0.7 steals, 0.7 blocks, 1.7 turnovers, and 4.0 fouls.
There’s no doubt that the Philadelphia 76ers have the most dominant player in the NBA. This past week, Embiid averaged 35.3 points, 15.0 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 0.7 steals, 1.7 blocks, 2.3 turnovers, and 2.7 fouls.
