It’s a shame that the Philadelphia 76ers‘ rookies were snubbed from receiving Rising Stars honors, however, that’s not the biggest story regarding the team’s first year players. It is the fact one of them has struggled in the G-League debut with the Delaware Blue Coats.

Out of all the rookies on the Sixers, Tyrese Maxey has the best case for being on the Rising Star roster. That being said, he only played in one game this past week and had four points and five assists in the game against the Indiana Pacers.

Season averages: 8.0 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.5 steals, 0.2 blocks, 0.7 turnovers, and 1.3 fouls. Shooting 45.0 percent on field goals, 27.3 percent on 3-pointers, and 88.0 on free throws.

Isaiah Joe made his Blue Coats debut playing in two games this past week. Sadly, he’s struggled in those two outings. He’s shot a combined 3-17 from downtown thus far, which is terrible considering he’s supposed to be a marksman. Hopefully, he can turn things around moving forward.

G-League season averages: 8.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.0 steals, 0.5 blocks, 1.5 turnovers, and 2.5 fouls. Shooting 25.0 percent on field goals and 17.6 percent on 3-pointers.

58th pick, 2020 draft

To no surprise to most fans following Paul Reed in the G-League, the big man continued his dominant stretch of play. On another positive note, Reed was able to keep his fouling down to a minimum as he averaged 2.5 fouls in 31.5 minutes per game. The big man continues to grow his game with the Blue Coats and deserves a chance at minutes once the G-League bubble is concluded.

G-League season averages: 22.3 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.0 steals, 1.8 blocks, 2.6 turnovers, and 4.1 fouls. Shooting 58.8 percent on field goals, 44.4 percent on 3-pointers, and 78.9 on free throws.

It’s a shame that Joe struggled this past week and that the Philadelphia 76ers’ rookies were snubbed from Rising Stars honors, however, the future is bright for the team’s rookies.
