There are players who are stars in their roles and that is certainly true of one of the original 3-and-D players of the NBA. Danny Green has been great for the Philadelphia 76ers and was able to hit some clutch shots to help the Sixers win two games this past week.

Player of the Week: Danny Green

Green was the 76ers third leading scorer in the victory against Sacramento Kings. He finished with 18 points, three rebounds, two assists, three steals, and two fouls, while converting 7-13 field goals and 4-6 of his 3-pointers. Despite the team being short handed without Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and Seth Curry, it was an impressive win for the club.

More from The Sixer Sense

Philly grinded out a win against the New York Knicks and Green hit several key shots late in the fourth quarter and overtime. He ended the contest with 11 points, three rebounds, one rebound, five steal, three blocks, and two turnovers. He went 4-8 from the floor and 3-5 from behind the arc. This was Green’s best defensive game of the week and arguably of the season.

Former Sixers center Tony Bradley stole for the show in the victory against the Golden State Warriors and Green had his least impressive game of the week. He had 11 points, two rebounds, one assist, and two fouls, while making 4-9 of his shots and 3-8 from the 3-point line.

On the night Green received his championship ring from the Los Angeles Lakers, he also helped seal a win for the 76ers. He had a game leading 28 points along with five rebounds, one steal, two blocks, one turnover, and five fouls. He also shot 9-14 from the field, 8-12 from deep, and 2-2 from the free throw line.

Honorable Mention

This week’s honorable mention is more of a shoutout to Paul Reed for playing well in limited against the Lakers. Outside of that game, he did get a little bit of playing time against the Kings. On the week he averaged 3.0 points, 1.5 rebounds, 0.5 steals, and 1.0 foul.

It’s good to see Green playing like he did during his prime and the Philadelphia 76ers certainly need him to play like this moving forward. For the past four games, he averaged 17.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.5 steals, 1.3 blocks, 0.8 turnovers, and 2.3 fouls, while converting 58.1 percent from downtown.
