In this episode of The Sixer Sense Podcast, we look into several topics as the Sixers are looking to maintain their Eastern Conference lead. We start the pod with the two games played in Los Angeles.

The Sixers took to the Lakers home court and walked away with a victory. The LeBron-less Lakers were struggling until a late surge in the fourth, which surely made Sixer fans shake their heads. We dove into the reasons why they almost gave that game away late and who was the key player in the final moments. The other game in L.A. was different.

The difference were the two stars that the Clippers had in their lineup. In this part of the pod, we analyze various aspects of a tough loss in the final West Coast road game that Philly played without Joel Embiid.

Speaking of Embiid, the conversation opens up about the star center’s timetable for a healthy return. We looked into the advantages and disadvantages of letting Embiid play immediately after he is cleared by team doctors versus letting him get extra rest.

The Nets are trying to stockpile talent in Brooklyn. How do their signings impact the Sixers’ chances to win the east?

Like everyone else over the weekend, we saw the move that Brooklyn made to improve its roster depth. By signing former All-Star — LaMarcus Aldridge — many NBA fans are complaining about players flocking to playoff contenders with tremendous talent already. Does this move for the Nets really put them ahead of teams like the Sixers, Bucks, and Heat? We discuss this topic in depth.

The discussion then leads into the recent news about another former Sixer — Al Horford — and how he is now inactive on the OKC Thunder roster. We bring up the idea that if he played for the current Sixers under Doc Rivers, Horford could be more effective than last year.

Last but not least, we reveal responses to our social media question that asked what Doc Rivers’ focus should be the rest of the season. Is it the bench? Keeping players healthy? Drilling the concept of execution? Listen and find out. You may hear your response read aloud on the pod.
