Happy May 4th to all the Sixers fans who double as Star Wars fans! The legendary fantasy saga has provided many with a respite from this global pandemic, whether it be streaming the Mandalorian on Disney+ or revisiting the classic films.

Star Wars is, in many ways, the epitome of popcorn entertainment. It is equal parts thrilling and engaging, with a massive world, complex characters, and the biggest special effects budget this side of Marvel. Even if the latest film installment was a disappointment — …woof — there’s still plenty to love within the world of Jedis and Siths.

That said, today we will combine worlds — Jedis, Siths, and Sixers. Which players are well-versed in the force? Are the Sixers on the side of light, or beholden to the dark? Does the mirror hole on Luke’s island call to anyone? Let’s see…

Sixers as Star Wars — Dwight Howard : Chewbacca

Chewbacca is a beloved fan favorite with unmistakable strength and force of will. He’s huge! Bigger than just about anyone! Is he rough around the edges? Sure. Is he liable to break things he shouldn’t break? Yeah. But he’s important to the locker room and a nice source of muscle in the second unit.

Sixers as Star Wars — Tobias Harris : Qui-Gon Jinn

Qui-Gon Jinn may not have been the best with a lightsaber. He may have choked in the big series. But, that should not diminish his wisdom. He certainly read books. There’s no doubt he was well-versed in the Jedi texts. And, as far as leadership goes, who was better? Who better to teach young Jedis?

Qui-Gon is a natural-born leader. Invaluable in the locker room. The kind of person you want around your young talent. The kind of player who can connect with and impart wisdom upon the next generation. Again, not great in the big moments, but a guy you want around your team.
