How to approach Korkmaz’s upcoming free agency: Korkmaz’s market

A team going into free agency would first consider whether the incumbent player can be replaced with similar talent. If the player can be replaced, the team would go for the cheaper player. A player who could replace Korkmaz’s talents would be a player who excels as a catch-and-shoot threat that doesn’t need the ball to contribute to the game.

Surprisingly, despite the influx of three-point shooting in the NBA, the majority of players who shoot roughly the same amount of threes as Korkmaz are unrealistic acquisitions for the Philadelphia 76ers such as All-Stars. Furthermore, even those who are realistic options for Philly don’t make a compelling case with many being on the tail end of their NBA careers.

While these players could be effective, one of Korkmaz’s biggest draws as a free agent is his youth at the age of 23 years old. While it doesn’t seem likely that he would become an All-Star, he should continue growing as a player which any team would appreciate over an aging player.
