As the play-in tournament is occurring, the Philadelphia 76ers‘ front office should be scouting potential free agent options. There are eight teams that entered the play-in tournament and there are at least five free agents the Sixers should be interested in this offseason from those teams.
It should be noted that while the cost to sign said free agents will be mentioned, it’s not a defining factor of why they are on this list. It should also be noted that these players aren’t placed in any particular order.
5 Play-in Tournament free agent targets: Evan Fournier
Evan Fournier will definitely be out Sixers price range in free agency, but that shouldn’t hinder their interest in going after him. They could go for a sign-and-trade with either George Hill and/or Danny Green if the Boston Celtics are willing participants.
If that were to occur, then Fournier would be a major addition for the 76ers. I wrote about him as a trade deadline target earlier this season. He’s a three-level scorer who’s a pretty good 3-point shooter. Between the Orlando Magic and Celtics, Fournier has averaged 17.1 points and 3.4 assists, while making 41.3 percent of his 3-pointers this year.
Presumably, he’d be a starter if he could end up with Philly next season, whereas he’s been jumping between a starter and reserve with the Celtics. If the Sixers had him and Curry on the perimeter, then that would make them an even bigger threat on offense.
