5 Play-in Tournament free agent targets: Kent Bazemore
At 31 years old, Kent Bazemore has been a solid veteran for a rather young Golden State Warriors, outside of their core trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. Bazemore was a starter in the prime of his career but now serves as a quality backup.
He’s a solid 3-and-D player at either wing position. At 6-foot-4, he’s still skilled enough to defend both shooting guards and small forwards. This season for the Warriors, he’s averaging 7.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.0 steal, while converting 40.8 percent from the 3-point line which is a career-high for him.
“It honestly shouldn’t take more than the mid-level exception to sign a player of Bazemore’s age.”
With both Green and Furkan Korkmaz entering free agency, it would be a good idea for a veteran like Bazemore to come in to replace either one or both if free agency turns out poorly for the 76ers. Even if both return, having a seasoned vet like Bazemore would surely help the locker room.
It honestly shouldn’t take more than the mid-level exception to sign a player of Bazemore’s age. Especially, considering that he signed with Golden State for just $2.3 million this past offseason. If it takes more than that, then Philly should look to spend their money else were, like on their own players.
