Ranking every player on the Sixers roster — 16. Anthony Tolliver

Anthony Tolliver has been a solid NBA player for a long, long time. The 35-year-old was a late-season addition for the Sixers, filling the last of Philadelphia’s 15 full-time roster spots. Tolliver has appeared in only 11 games in mostly garbage time, but his résumé is not without value.

Tolliver has spent 12 years in the NBA, most of them as a very useful player. While he may not provide consistent enough defense at this stage of his career, the veteran is a floor-stretching big who can bring wisdom and a winning mentality to the roster. Tolliver has been around playoff teams before, and the Sixers are a still a team learning how to win at the highest level.

While he was never an upgrade over Mike Scott nor someone the Sixers could truly rely on, Tolliver’s leadership is more than enough to warrant the 15th spot on an unproven contender. He was never going to crack the rotation, but he can mentor his younger partners in the bench mob.

If injuries tear holes through the Sixers’ rotation, Tolliver can adequately fill spot minutes as a small-ball five. He was semi-regular minutes as recently as last season. This may or may not be his last NBA stop — it look him until mid-season to sign somewhere — but Sixer fans should appreciate the wealth of experience Tolliver brings to the table.
