5 reasons why Curry could become a Sixer: Under Armour

Hands down, Steph Curry is the face of Under Armour. Since 2013, he has worn their gear and generated a nice sum of profit from his signature shoe sales. The money he rakes in for a major shoe company is ridiculous, considering his name is not Lebron James or Kobe Bryant. What does this have to do with the Philadelphia 76ers though?

In 2020, the Sixers’ All-Star center, Joel Embiid, was granted his own signature shoe, like Curry. They marketed his sneaker as one that can be worn by anyone at any position, attempting to break the stereotype that big men can’t sell shoes.

The reality is that with a Curry and Embiid tandem, Under Armour could exponentially increase the value of their brand. The exposure each signature shoe could receive during multiple rounds of playoff series for the next three to five years would be astonishing.

The Under Armour connection could be good for chemistry on and off the court between the two stars if Curry signed with Philadelphia. They are already friendly, spending time together a few years ago on a publicity campaign. The footage of Steph Curry hilariously mocking Embiid’s moves on the court is golden. The video of Curry wearing the big man’s shoes in support of his sneaker mate is also something to smile about.

In Golden State, Curry has been a Splash Brother with Klay Thompson. In Philly, he could literally be with his brother, Seth, and be an Under Armour Brother with Joel Embiid. Wouldn’t that be a spectacle?
