Sixers’ pros and cons of trading for Damian Lillard: PROS

Undoubtedly, the biggest upside to acquiring Damian Lillard would have to be the incoming player to the Sixers. Damian Lillard would definitely be a major acquisition and improve the Sixers’ offense to a new level. While Lillard isn’t the most efficient scorer, Lillard has consistently scored at a high level, averaging 27.2 points per game since he was first named an All-Star in 2015-16. While Lillard is best known for shooting long-range 3-pointers, Lillard can create his own shot from the 3, mid-range, and at the rim.

Another benefit of a Damian Lillard acquisition is that he may have better synergy with Joel Embiid compared to Ben Simmons. While talks of the fit between Simmons and Embiid have somewhat died down this season, on the offensive end, Lillard should theoretically fit better with Embiid than Ben Simmons does due to his shooting prowess.

Additionally, Lillard is also one of the most infamous players in the fourth quarter, consistently being able to carry his teams in close games both in the regular season and in the playoffs. For a team like the Sixers who have consistently struggled to close out games in the fourth quarter, bringing in a player with the mentality and skill of Lillard should address this issue perfectly.
