2021 NBA Draft — 15. James Bouknight, Washington Wizards

The Wizards need… a lot of help. No one prospect will fix that roster, but after watching Bradley Beal carry dead weight for five games in the first round of the playoffs, it would not be unreasonable of Washington to add another bucket-getter to the mix. James Bouknight can, in fact, get buckets.

A springy 6-foot-5 guard with Rucker Park handles and unfiltered confidence, Bouknight can provide an immediate scoring punch off the bench. He gets to his spots with ease, and has no trouble unleashing hesitation moves or crossovers to create space one-on-one.

There are aspects of his game that give me pause — he’s somewhat self-oriented on the court, and his 3-point efficiency is not ideal — but the tough shot acumen and impressive athleticism are enough to warrant this pick from Washington.
