2021 NBA Mock Draft — 26. Quentin Grimes, Denver Nuggets

A strong combine performance has sent Quentin Grimes skyrocketing up draft boards. After struggling out of the gates at Kansas, Grimes spent his last two years in Houston, where he revived his status as a first-round talent. The fit in Denver is as good as any.

Denver’s lack of firepower killed them in the postseason. With the obvious caveat being that Jamal Murray was out, it would be within reason for the Nuggets to target some insurance on the perimeter. Austin Rivers was little more than a stopgap, while Monte Morris couldn’t quite live up to expectations in the second round.

Grimes is one of the draft’s most dynamic shooters, with a lights-out stroke from deep and endless confidence. If the Nuggets believe in his upside as a ball-handler and decision-maker, then all the better. Nikola Jokic will run the show, but Grimes’ deep threat would be a welcome addition to the second unit.
