5 free agents from the NBA Finals the Sixers should consider: Torrey Craig

The Bucks signed Torrey Craig for the veteran’s minimum last offseason, only to trade him to Phoenix in the P.J. Tucker deal. He has already won his first NBA championship, regardless of this series’ outcome. He’s another name the Sixers should investigate with the mid-level exception.

If Tucker is off the board, Craig could fill a lot of the same holes. He fits into multiple lineup configurations, is a capable 3-point shooter, and would give the Sixers real toughness in the second unit. Not to mention the locker room value of experience with two championship-level teams.

Phoenix is a well-oiled machine, and Craig has played his part well. He knows how to impact the game without dominating possessions, making well-timed cuts and thriving within the Suns’ offensive construct. On defense, he can defend high-level wings and provide muscle Matisse Thybulle and Furkan Korkmaz never could.

For the season, Craig is shooting 48.0 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from deep. Since joining Phoenix, he has averaged 7.2 points in 18.8 minutes per game — a career-high scoring mark. He’s 30, so still within range of his prime, and has more than enough to offer Philadelphia if the Tuckers and Nic Batums of the world are out of the equation.
