This episode of The Sixer Sense Podcast welcomes site contributor Sheldon Washington for some great discussion about topics surrounding the Philadelphia 76ers. We kick things off with the recent news related to Ben Simmons.

The initial topic that Sheldon, Lucas, and Chris discuss revolves around Seth Curry’s comments about Simmons. He publicly expressed support for his teammate, and he even said he loves playing with him. We break down whether or not Curry is being sincere, or just offering a politically correct response.

Has the Ben Simmons discourse gone too far? Did the Sixers bear witness to the NBA’s best individual performance last season? Will the Olympics help Matisse Thybulle?

We then shift to the recent joke about Ben Simmons on the ESPY Awards. Anthony Mackie roasted Simmons in front of millions, jokingly claimed that Simmons’ playoff bricks have built children orphanages. While the video clip went viral, we discuss how this might impact SImmons’ psyche and if it will motivate him to improve his shooting.

The podcast then goes into ESPN’s list of top performances from the 2020-2021 season. The list includes amazing games played by Jayson Tatum, Nikola Jokic, Stephen Curry, Bradley Beal, and Philadelphia’s MVP candidate, Joel Embiid. Sheldon, Lucas, and Chris analyze the performance rankings and which ones impressed them the most.

The final topic brings Matisse Thybulle into the mix. The Sixers’ All-Defensive second team player is playing for the Australia in the Olympics, showing growth in his offensive game and continuing to cause havoc defensively. The trio discuss how this extra offseason play will help boost Thybulle’s overall game.
