Sixers podcast: 2021 NBA Mock Draft
By Uriah Young
On this special episode of The Sixer Sense Podcast, we explore the pool of talented NBA prospects. Lucas Johnson and Christopher Kline conduct a mock NBA Draft to see which college players could possibly be drafted by NBA teams. They split the selection duties by divisions and choose players who they feel either fill a team’s need or is the best player available at the time.
Who goes first in the draft? Will it be Cade Cunningham? Will Jalen Suggs go in the top five? Could Scottie Barnes crack the top 10? Most important for Sixers fans, who will be available with the 28th pick? Lucas and Chris make picks for each franchise who selects in the first round.
Multiple teams have multiple picks, so it will interesting what happens in the first round. There could be some blockbuster trades involving established NBA players for draft assets. We stick with teams’ original picks in our mock draft with no way of knowing what will occur next week.
The Sixers hold the 28th pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. And, looking toward next season, does Joel Embiid’s leadership need recalibration?
The podcast then turns to the Sixers’ All-Star big man, Joel Embiid. With all of the drama sparked by Ben Simmons’ dreadful offensive playoff performance, we discuss what Joel Embiid could have done to convince his teammate to shoot more throughout the season. Was it a lack of leadership that Embiid could not nudge Simmons to contribute more on offense, or was that a responsibility that should not fall on Embiid’s shoulders?
Our social media poll of the week asks our Twitter and Facebook followers the question – Do you believe Ben Simmons will be on the roster to start next season?
