3 free agent destinations for Green: Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors could be one of the big movers during this offseason. They have young prospects, draft capital, and movable contacts in Andrew Wiggins as well as soon to be free agent Kelly Oubre Jr. in a sign-and-trade. If the Warriors land a big-time player, Green might want to join Golden State.

The core of Stephen Curry, a healthy Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green should be enticing enough for Green to consider joining. However, if they add another All-Star like say Ben Simmons for example, then if Green joins that team, it should make them title favorites.

That being written, depending on who the Warriors land in a trade, it could force Green to a bench role. Green has been a regular starter since his fourth season in the NBA, so that might hurt Golden State’s chances of signing him. However, he’d have a very good chance of winning a title there which is something he shouldn’t ignore at his stage in his career.

The other aspect to consider is that, unlike the Heat, the Warriors are very tight on cap space. That means if Green wants to join Golden State, then he would have to sign a minimum contract. Golden State gives Green a legit chance to win a title, but the type of role and money they could offer won’t be as much as the Philadelphia 76ers could offer.
