2021 NBA Mock Draft — 10. Moses Moody, New Orleans Pelicans

The Pelicans are yet another team swirling around the rumor mill, but if the pick stays in New Orleans, then you can expect a player who is ready to contribute from the jump. Moses Moody has been mentioned a lot around the lottery lately, and he’s the kind of rock-solid 3-and-D wing a team like the Pelicans would value.

Moody is a strong 6-foot-6 wing who can defend multiple positions and provide some lineup flexibility. The Pelicans may look for a guard here (Davion Mitchell, Josh Giddey, Keon Johnson), but with Kyle Lowry, Lonzo Ball, and other free agents all on the table, consider me unsurprised if it’s inevitably a wing.

The Pelicans don’t get much “upside” in Moody, but he’s a good bet to play as a rookie. He can hit spot-up 3s, get to his spots in the mid-range, and fill a complementary role on offense. Zion Williamson is the star around which New Orleans’ entire solar system revolves. Moody’s ability to bolster the perimeter defense and space the floor would make him a clear fit with Zion.
