2021 NBA Mock Draft — 27. Joshua Primo, Brooklyn Nets
The 18-year-old Joshua Primo is the youngest player on the board, which may seem antithetical to Brooklyn’s immediate championship aspirations. That said, age is only a number. He’s an elite off-ball shooter who plays rock-solid defense, despite a slight 6-foot-4 frame.
Primo competes hard and he embraced a complementary role at Alabama. In fact, one of the big knocks on Primo is that he was seldom more than a third or fourth option in the Crimson Tide offense. He has not had too many opportunities to showcase the full extent of his skill set. Some, however, will view the unknown as upside, not uncertainty.
The Nets have shown they can win at a high level without traditional lineups. Primo is another guard, but he should have no trouble sneaking into the rotation if he plays well enough. He has the competitive spirit to guard bigger wings, and his frame leaves plenty of room for additional muscle. His skill set complements Brooklyn’s star trio well.
