2021 NBA Mock Draft — 30. Ayo Dosunmu, Utah Jazz

The Jazz need players who can defend the perimeter and keep ball-handlers out of the paint. Ayo Dosunmu, on top of elite offensive production at Illinois, can certainly defend the ball. He’s one of the hardest workers in the draft, and that translates to the defensive end, where he never lacks for hustle. Dosunmu is 6-foot-5, with long arms and the versatility to play either guard spot.

Utah will want an instant contributor who can help them win a championship. Mike Conley is expected to re-sign, and the Jazz are not short on playmakers, but Dosunmu has the skill set of a useful glue guy. He’s an aggressive downhill driver and transition threat who facilitates at a reasonably high level. He’s not the best shooter, but Utah has never had trouble spacing the floor.

Dosunmu’s work ethic and desire to improve are well-documented. He is someone teams will have confidence in — if not as a future starter, then at least as a player who can embrace his skill set and carve out a role in the NBA. The Jazz reward that with a first-round pick.
