5 point guard free agent options in 2021: Alex Caruso

LeBron James and Anthony Davis are the two best players on the Los Angeles Lakers, but Alex Caruso is clearly the fan-favorite of the roster. Now he’s a free agent and he will have his pick of suitors.

To be clear, it’s more than likely that he will probably return to the Lakers, but if he were to consider other contenders, the Philadelphia 76ers should be in the running. He’d probably cost the Sixers mid-level exception, but it’s totally possible he could get more elsewhere.

If signed by Philly, Caruso would bring defense, elite athleticism, and 3-point shooting. If Philly just wants a secondary ball-handler to pair alongside Simmons. He was the perfect complement to LeBron in L.A. so it’s not hard to see the natural fit with the Sixers dynamic playmaker.

Caruso does provide a solid contributor for a title favorite as he’s a 3-and-D point guard. The Sixers are a contender in the Eastern Conference so if Caruso does decide to move on from the Lakers, then Philly should be on his list.
