5 point guard free agent options in 2021: Jeff Teague
The former one time All-Star has now become a journeyman, but it didn’t stop Jeff Teague from winning his first NBA title with the Milwaukee Bucks this year. Despite a rough start with the Boston Celtics to begin the year, Teague was able to contribute to a contender in the Bucks.
This year, the 33-year-old veteran averaged 6.7 points and 2.4 assists, while shooting 43.9 percent from downtown. It’s clear that Teague isn’t the quick-twitch athlete that once made an All-Star game, however, that doesn’t mean that he can’t still be an important part of a team’s second unit.
He can still run an offense at a high level and can stretch the floor in a limited role. If the team does trade Hill this offseason, having a veteran like Teague on the bench would be a big help to both Simmons and Maxey.
Teague isn’t getting a big payday so he can be signed for the veteran’s minimum and he can run a team’s offense coming off the bench. As long as Teague doesn’t want to return to Milwaukee, he should be obtainable for the Philadelphia 76ers.
