Otto Porter Jr. should be one of the top free agent priorities for the Sixers this offseason, check out Christopher Kline’s article about him. Despite dealing with injuries the last several seasons, he’s still an ideal combo forward to have on the roster, especially if he’s healthy.
It’s fair to say that Porter Jr. will never live up to the hype of being picked third overall in the 2013 NBA draft. That being written, he can still be a very good role player. He’s a two-way forward who at 6-foot-8 can guard up two or three positions and he’s a solid 3-point shooter.
Last season he averaged 9.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists, while converting 37.5 percent of his attempts from downtown. After playing on a big contract for the past four seasons, Porter is at the point in his career that he was to prove he can stay healthy.
With that in mind, the 76ers could have Porter on either a mid-level exception or possibly a minimum contract. What type of contract Philly will offer will be dictated by how much interest he has in the free agent market.
There are some quality small forwards on the free agent market and the Philadelphia 76ers have a real chance to land one of them.
